Qatar appoints four women to its law-drafting Shura Council

On Thursday, Qatar’s royal decree announced 28 new members were appointed for the country’s Shura Council. Four of those members are women, marking it the first time Qatar has appointed women for the council responsible for discussing drafting of laws and government policies.

Turkey, US embassies resume issuing non-immigrant visas

On Monday, the US embassy in Turkey’s capital Ankara released a statement on their website announcing they are to resume accepting new requests for non-immigrant visas on a limited basis in the country.

Poland: Thousands of far-right nationalists gather in Warsaw to march for white supremacy, anti-liberalism, and anti-Islam on Polish independence day

On Saturday afternoon, thousands of far-right nationalists gathered in Poland’s capital Warsaw to participate in “Independence March” which was organized by far-right groups including All-Polish Youth, the National Movement, and the National-Radical Camp. Participants objected to liberalism, Islam, and some banners supported white supremacy.

On Monday, Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo formally announced his retirement from football. 2006 FIFA World Cup winner with Italy, Pirlo had announced his intentions to end his 22-year-career last month.
